Can I change how Dorico interprets the chord symbols I enter?

I have figured out the engraving options to allow me to get Dorico to write chord symbols the way I prefer them. But I still find that Dorico does not interpret what I type correctly when I am typing in chord symbols. The biggest issue is that if I type “DbM7” Dorico gives me a minor 7 chord when I wanted a major 7 chord. It is so instinctual for me to use capital M and lower-case m for major and minor chords, and it’s so counter-intuitive for me to have to type “Maj” for a major chord. Rather than having to undo 30 years of practice is there a way for me to teach dorico to understand that I mean “M7” not “m7” when I type in “M7”?

Yeah, that’s odd that Dorico will accept CM but not CM7. Seems like an oversight to me.

I believe the capital and lower case “M” and “m” are supposed to be signifiers for the triad quality, and the “^7” and “7” refers to the quality of the 7th interval (major, and minor respectively).

I don’t know why the reference guide doesn’t list “maj7” or “ma7”. Those also work.

Anyway, that’s how I think about it, and how I teach the parsing of these common chord symbols to students, for better or worse.

I notice that simply typing “c” in the chord symbol popover doesn’t render as Cmi though. Kind of strange, as that’s a super useful way to enter major and minor key sigs…
