Hi, can I downgrade from C Pro13 to C Pro11? I’ve installed C Pro13 but it’s causing blue screen issues on a new build pc, and I just need a working machine so I can get back to work. I don’t own a copy of C Pro11, but wondered if I could download a previous version of C Pro from somewhere on the Steinberg site and use my license from C Pro13? I know it’s probably a long shot but thought I’d ask anyway.
Thanks
Jake
Your 13 license will also allow you to run 12, which was the first version that used Steinberg Licensing. If you didn’t have a USB-eLicenser with an earlier version on it when you purchased 13, you can’t run 11 or previous versions.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I upgraded from my oldest Cubase with a USB-eLicenser, which was from C7. I also have C Pro9, C Pro10 and now this upgrade to C Pro13. So if I’m reading you correctly then yes I can. So I’m guessing I can deactivate Pro13 on the USB-eLicenser and activate the newly installed Pro11(which can be downloaded from Steinberg.net) to the USB-eLicenser?
Thanks
Jake
You don’t need to deactivate Cubase 13. There is no version 12 or 13 on your USB key. Elicenser has nothing to do with the new license system.
Just install elicenser software, install Cubase 11 and plug your USB key. Done. You can keep Cubase 13 installed and activated on your computer.
Cubase 13 is not on the USB licenser. You can deactivate C13 only through the software “Activation Manager”.
If your highest Cubase license on the USB-licenser is 10 (upgraded to Steinberg Licensing) it would be interesting to see if you can run 11 with it. Should be possible.
Hi Makumbaria, OK I got you.
Thanks
Jake
Hi Johnny, I think first off I’ll try what Makumbaria suggests as I want to keep the C Pro10 for one of my other studio PCs.
Strangely my C Pro13 show’s as ‘Cubase Pro 11 (Upgraded to Cubase 12 with Steinberg Licensing)’ on my account.
Then if the dongle also says that in the eLicenser software, you are good to go to run 11.
Your licensing is THAT usb key. You can install 10 on as many machines as you want, it’s not ‘taking’ an activation from anything. The software just doesn’t run if you don’t have your USB key plugged in.

Thanks for your help. It would have been nice to run Pro13 but it doesn’t seem ready for Pro usage right now. I’ll be happy if Pro11 runs solidly and with all my plugins/VSTs. I’ll try Pro13 now and again to see if the problems get ironed out, but for me I need a rock solid system that I can rely on every day. Hopefully Pro11 will provide that and be able to take advantage of my new i9 14th Gen build.
That is totally fine as we have written virtually the same.
C Pro 11 has been rock solid for me. In fact, I am doing the same as you in reverting back to it until all the bugs are ironed out of Pro 13. Basically, Pro 9 through 11 have been solid. I jumped from 11 to 13 because when I registered 12, I was in the grace period for 13.
I think it’s worth mentioning that if you’re running a modern version of Windows and your PC is bluescreening, there’s a very high chance that the programs you’re running aren’t necessarily the culprit. The “Event Viewer” app may hold some clues.
