Does the number of parameters have to be predetermined? For example, a step sequencer where the user can choose how many steps to use, from one step to forty steps.
I apologize if this is a stupid question.

It is preferable to have a stable number of exported parameters when the plugin is intanciated, define a max allowed values at start.
