Can I remove the measure lines in an organ/piano part in the lyrics?

I am converting a midi track of a hymn tune, and adding the lyrics into the staves for printing. Is it possible to remove the bar lines from the lyrics section only, so they don’t cut through the words?

Alternatively, is there a better way to create a four verse hymn for printing?

For the instrument(s) use the Choir Reduction or Soprano for Treble clef and Bass for Bass clef. That way barlines won’t cut through the words.

Hi @blatboy, it is better not to use joined barlines when lyrics are present. If you use vocal staves * Dorico should disjoint the barlines automatically. Or you can make this manually in Engrave mode (select the barline > select the upper control point > Alt(Option) + down arrow: @blatboy (*) You can visualize/edit the status of the staff (if it is a Vocal staff or not) in the Edit Instrument dialogue clicking, in Setup mode, on the thee little dots near the instrument name, and choosi…

Hi @D_Frez, and welcome to the Forum, and to Dorico! Probably the XML didn’t had clear instrument definitions, so that Dorico imported the instruments as non-vocal staves. Non-Vocal staves join the barline for each family/bracket. Vocal staves, instead, per default, don’t join the barlines, leaving so place for the Lyrics.
