Can I see the new waveform without rendering the file?

I’ve spent an hour searching for this answer and there appears to be a way to do this but getting a straightforward how to do it has been elusive.

I have a stereo audio file. I want to run a limiter across both channels from start to finish just to even out the stray peaks. I would like to see the results of this limiter in waveform without rendering the file.

Thank you!

That is not possible. To capture the outcome of a processing, even visually, would require to apply the processing.

You can simply render in-place and then undo.

Yes, as PG wrote, you can open an audio file in the Audio Editor, use a plugin on the master section, Render in place and Ctrl+Z

Yes, you can do it.
You can visualize the waveform with the applied plugin even without rendering.
Use the WaveScope Tool.
