Hello everyone. As the title says I would like to know if there is a way to “unlink” the master score and the single parts; what I mean is that I would like to be able to make some changes that only appear in a specific part, without modifying the master score.
For example: I have in my orchestral score a flute, that plays first at bar 1, then at bar 15. In both passages the flute plays mp, and I do not want to repeat the dynamic in the master score. However, I want to restate the mp dynamic inside the flute part, to make it more clear for the player.
Another example: I sometimes would like to be able to cancel some gradual tempo changes only inside some parts that are not playing in that moments, since they don’t necessarily have to know that there is one, and that the tempo is changing. And canceling the change from the part, everything becomes tidier, and the multirest don’t have to split up, and it just makes more sense sometimes. But I can’t do it because if I cancel that tempo change in the flute part, it also cancels it in the master score hence in every other part.
Is there a way to do what I want to do? I find it very limitating not to have the freedom to do so, and right now if I wanted to do it I would have to make the changes i want in the part, print it and then cancel actions until i get it back to normal for the other parts. Thank to everyone!!
It’s quite easy to do the dynamics thing, since the properties can be set to local, and you can hide dynamics (at least, the immediate ones) on a particular layout (that would be Full score in your example). For the tempo markings, I don’t think it’s that easy…

You might be able to hide the Tempo Marks, but they would still break multi-measure rests.
Perhaps, but there are usually very good reasons why players should know what’s going on, even when they’re not playing. Most literature advises to include all tempo marks.

I expect you could always export the flute part into a new document and make whatever changes you wished.
…. or add another flute player, copy the music over, make your changes and exclude it from the Full Score Layout.
