Can I use a single Cubase license for both Mac OS and Windows?

Good afternoon.
I’m interested in purchasing a Cubase license.
My question is: If I purchase a Cubase license for the Mac OS version, will it work for the Windows version?
I use Mac OS and Windows on different computers.
Cubase activation is done through an account, and there’s only one account. In theory, a license purchased with a single account should work for both the Mac OS and Windows versions of Cubase.

Hi,

Yes, you can. Since the new licensing system, you can use one license in up to 3 computers/seats.

It doesn’t matter if they are Mac or Windows or both.

OK. Thanks!:slightly_smiling_face:
That’s not possible with Cubasis.

Yes, because they need to be installed from two different app stores, that have no relationship to each other.

And that’s the problem. Because the purchased version of Cubasis for Android can’t be used on an iPad using an account.
If they made it possible to download Cubasis from the website and activate it using an account, then you wouldn’t have to buy Cubasis twice.

And how would you install it on the iPad, which has to be done using your account in the Apple App Store? You need to take this up with Apple and Google who like to lock things to their own mobile platforms. When I bought the Affinity suite a few years ago, I could’ve just bought the iOS versions and happily used them on my iPad Pro. But I bought the ‘regular’ license for the standalone Mac app, and got licenses for MacOS, Windows and the iPad version. Don’t ever buy it from the ‘mobile platform’ if you don’t have to.

Steinberg doesn’t have any control over them. Ever bought a game from the iOS store that’s also available everywhere else like Steam, GOG, etc?? The poor folks that bought the Baldur’s Gate Enhanced games from the iOS or Android store have to wait months, sometimes longer before they get the same bug fixes and updates the rest of us did because they had to wait for iOS/Android BS regarding the ‘store rules’ and approval processes.

As @Monotremata already wrote, talk to Apple and Google and ask them to open their app stores.

This is not aSteinberg issue, it is the locked environments from Apple and Google.

Your question was about Cubase and not the app.

Please post Cubasis requests in the correct forum
