Can I use AU plugins in Vienna Ensemble Pro (VEP)?

Hi,

I mostly use Dorico with VEP. Obviously, I’m using the VST version of VEP.

But can I use AU plugins in VEP, and expect that Dorico can drive them with no issues?

VEP allows hosting plugins in a format different than its own plugin. But I don’t know if everything is then correctly channeled to the hosted plugins.

AU would be my preferred format, since I would like to use the same VEP templates in other programs (like Logic or others).

Dorico doesn’t know what plugins are behind the VEP VST (i.e., loaded into VEP Server). It just interacts with the VST loaded into Dorico. In other words, it’s fine.

I have the opposite setup: Logic with VEP AU → VEP Server loaded with VST2/3 instruments and it works fine.

Yes. I exclusively use AU plug-in format with VEPro with no issues
