Can I use Audio Units for playback with Dorico?

I’ve never used Halion. Nothing against it, I’ve just always used Kontakt as well as a number of Arturia VIs. I’ve already got a lot invested in these libraries and would just as soon not use Halion. Is this possible? I mostly do a lot of lead sheets so I could be content just using a MIDI out for playback. Can Dorico do this?

Dorico works perfectly well with Kontakt.

Technically, the answer to this question is “no” because Audio Units (AU) plugins are not supported by either Cubase or Dorico.

However, since pretty much every AU plugin out there is also available as a VST plugin which is supported by both Cubase and Dorico, this is not really a problem.

The thread title asks “Can I use Audio Units for playback with Dorico?”. The answer to that question is technically no.

In contrast, the answer to the question posed in the body text of the original post asking if it is possible to use Kontakt and the Arturia VI’s in Dorico is yes, because they are available as VST plugins as well and not just Audio Units.

Thanks for the reply mducharme. You’re right, I have VSTs for all these plugins so that should not be a problem. Right now I’m stuck trying to get all the Halion content installed from .iso files that won’t all mount easily. But I’ve got another topic devoted to that issue so no worries. Thanks again for your help.
