Selecting a track on the MCU will move the Cubase mixer to the corresponding bank-of-8 faders (as indicated by the white line under the tracks), but I can’t find a way to make that happen in reverse…when I select a track in the Cubase mixer, the MCU doesn’t also go to that corresponding bank-of-8 faders, and I have to manually us the MCU Bank button.
Am I overlooking something, or is this normal opperations?
You do not - I actually saw your other post and was going to reply to it
You can indeed have all 3 layers set to Cubase if you want, but just make sure you add the additional layer Mackie Ports configured in Cubase as well. You’ll need ports 1, 5, and 9 for the corresponding layers of 1, 2, and 3.
That said, I would probably encourage you see if you can get what you need mapped in just one layer. That way you have extra “room to grow” with other DAWs and configs - by way of example, I use mine in Nuendo, Ableton, and for my RME Total Mix. You can of course do whatever works for you, but since you just got it, it may be a bit less overwhelming to got for one layer at a time and not try to remember what disparate commands you’ve chosen for different layers for the same DAW. Just my opinion
Also note that you can load the SSL plugins on your all your tracks (e.g. SSL Channel Strip 2) but disable the plugins for CPU/Memory optimization while still having them show up in the 360 Mixer and follow the tracks on the UF8. Where you’ll possibly need the Plug-in Layer is when you’ve got tons of tracks and you want the UF8 to follow some track paged beyond your current view of 8 tracks (that will make more sense as you start using it).
