Can pedalling look more elegant...what am I doing wrong?

I never seem to be happy with the way piano pedalling turns out. What can I do to improve this?

Where you have multiple adjacent pedal lines in the same system, you could instead have a single long pedal line with retakes at the positions where in this version you started a new pedal line - this automatically keeps the line horizontal. At the moment you can’t align pedal lines graphically, unfortunately, apart from manually moving them individually.
