ATTEN:- Luis Dongo, Matthias Quellmann
Just read over on KVR. A repeated asking for help from ‘Rapid Composer’ developer Attila Mezei, (for presumably, an NFR copy of Cubase to test/troubleshoot his composition tool), being largely ignored by Steinberg.
Here’s the Developer quote, responding to a user post :- “Personally I am not able to help you with setting up RC and Cubase, because I have no access to Cubase (Steinberg does not even reply to my e-mails, I gave up) but there are some users on this forum who use RC with Cubase without issues.”
Failing his direct emails getting any attention, what about the ‘VST3 SDK’ Developer forum pages instead.? Better luck there maybe…? Well, I don’t know… it sounds like he just can’t be bothered any longer…
Is it just not something you can entertain…? Could you not at least write and tell him so…?
Weird, difficult times - he’s a one-man band, doing some great work… a hug (or, a copy of Cubase.!) is all that a lot of us need right now…
uh, why is he posting on the KVR forum and not here? derrrr
secondly, NFRs are mostly for distributors/sales and music stores. If he’s starting a business, it should be expected he invest in the tools he needs. If I start a restaurant, I’m not expecting a free NFR oven.
He could buy Cubase Elements to test his plugin, which doesn’t require a dongle.
Sorry, I hadn’t made it at all clear - he was responding to a user post on his own company’s sub-forum pages at KVR; the user post wasn’t made here.
NFR’s (or equivalent.?) can be supplied for whomsoever Steinberg deem fit/appropriate surely.?
I don’t know the nature of the original users actual issue; given his response, I’m only guessing the developer email requests was for a ‘test copy’ of Cubase. He may actually have had more specific technical questions - or, a request as to whom to send his plugin to at Steinberg HQ, to have it checked there maybe (if it was making Cubase fail in some way). Or, I don’t know…any other number of reasons…
Anyway, hope the main point of my post (lack of responding) was clear enough.
I’ve directed the developer to the VST3 SDK forum pages, to ask questions there; he’s responded that he has just now tried again to contact Steinberg directly. We’ll see if there’s any action during next week.
But as I say I don’t know if that was the true nature of the (repeated) requests; if it was, and there was a policy at SB to only award NFR’s under certain conditions, it just would have been polite/professional to at least respond explaining that… don’t you think…?
A person complains they can’t get in touch when they contact Steinberg directly, then gets a suggestion to use the Forum. They reply that they’ll try get in direct contact again. Later, they complain that they can’t get in touch when they contact Steinberg directly, then gets a suggestion to use the Forum. They reply that they’ll try get in direct contact again. Later, they complain that they can’t get in touch when they contact Steinberg directly, then gets a suggestion to use the Forum. They reply that they’ll try get in direct contact again. Later, they complain that…
What’s the famous quote that Albert Einstein never said?
Ha.! Yeah, it does seem a bit like that in his case…
Yet, how impossible is it for Steinberg to step up and break the cycle of this man’s (by your reckoning) ‘definition of insanity…’ nightmare…? You know, just once, write him a direct response…? It might be as simple as a “No, sorry”…
And we’ll all move on, with renewed knowledge and vigour…
(Also, I’ll try another encouraging hint to him to use the ‘accepted channels’ of communication)
I cannot find any emails on either his URL or his name anywhere. Also, there is the developer forum part indeed. I don’t know which channels he used to contact Steinberg and all I know is that I cannot break the circle.
Thank you for responding on this - that’s very interesting.! No wonder the poor guy hasn’t heard anything back; he’s sending requests off into some unknown electronic void…!
I will send another pointer to him about communication channels.
In the meantime, I have already (twice.!) provided him the link to the 3rd party Developer pages of the forum. He’ll just need a MySteinberg account presumably…
Anyway, I’m trying for him…! Thanks again for your attention.
Hi Ed,
that developer is me, and I tried to contact Steinberg through the support form. I received an automated reply so it did not go into the void. I assume the developer forum is for development questions, not B2B correspondence. I am hoping to receive a reply this time. If you can provide me a direct contact, to whom I could explain my situation, that would be wonderful.
Thanks!
Attila
