Can somebody explain the correct way to edit multiple samples at once?

I want to decrease the sample length for all of them at once. I cannot select all samples. I tried Ctrl, Shift, Alt, Ctrl+Shift, Ctrl+Shift+Alt — nothing lets me select all. That makes no sense.

I tried clicking Absolute and Relative, but that didn’t help either. I end up decreasing the length one by one, and on top of that I messed up the order of the samples while trying to select them.

The UX is terrible. Please help.

Do you need to select the “pad” button next to the “ABS” button in the top-ish right part of your screenshot?
