Can still hear the external instrument sound when the monitoring and recording icons are turned off!

Hello Folks,

In Cubase version 13.0.41, I created an external instrument (MPC Live 1) by setting up the MIDI and audio parameters. Then I created a new track and assigned the external instrument.

The problem is that I can still hear the MPC sound even when the monitoring and recording icons are turned off!

For your information:

  1. I created two other instruments, and the monitoring/recording behavior is as expected (No sound when disabled and sound when enabled).
  2. I created one audio track and one MIDI track, assigning the MPC audio and MIDI respectively. It behaves as expected (No sound when disabled and sound when enabled on the audio track).
  3. I started all again from an empty project and encountered the same problem when creating the external instrument for the MPC Live 1.
  4. I encountered the issue also with previous Cubase versions.

Based on my troubleshooting actions, the issue seems to be linked to the creation of the external instrument. I can’t figure out what might be causing this problem.

Any ideas?
Thanks for your support.

What audio interface do you have? The input may be turned up on that. I know that is how it works with my rme interface. You may have to turn it off on the hardware software.

I’m using an apogee ensemble connected via FO (adat) to an apogee quartet.
Not sure this is related to the interface as when I create an audio track and assign it to the MPC Live audio entries it works perfectly.
