Can’t select rest on its own

Hello,
I am having a problem to select a rest on its own, see this example please:

rest on its own impossible

The same in bar 275, I can’t select the rests of the downstem voice.
Here is a cut down version of those bars:

Bizet_Les Pécheurs de Perles - (B) Scéne et Chœur.dorico (1.2 MB)

I can only run Dorico version 4.3.31 on this computer.

What are you trying to do with it?

I can at least delete it and enter separate rests.

I am trying to select the downstem rest in bar 279 on its own. If I do, the rest of the previous bar gets selected too. I would like to keep the rest in bar 278 as it is - and only change (remove) the downstem rest in bar 279.

As said, deleting it and re-entering the rest just in 278 works. I’ve no idea why they are tied together, though.

When selecting that rest in, in the left panel (write mode) one can see that de duration of the rest is a dotted whole. So another way to solve this situation would be to put the caret at the begining of the bar 279 whit the “down stem voice 1” active and press U to “untie” the rests.

How bizarre. Invisibly “tied” rests! Thank you for investigating.

I can’t solve this.
If I select the rest in bar 274 and bar 278 I see no tied rest and hitting U does nothing .
If I select the rest in bar 274 and click the (un-activated) dotted note symbol, the rest vanishes in that bar only.
If I select the rest in bar 278 and click the (activated) dotted note symbol, the rest vanishes completely. I would like to enter (not a whole bar rest) a dotted minim rest.
And I don’t manage.

Like this?
editing rests

Edit.
It might be easier just to delete the “problem” rests (as @benwiggy suggested) and then enter the ones you want using force duration.

Thanks rafael, it took me a while…
Placing the caret onto the right place and only then invoking the U = Untie command does the trick.
It’s a bit counterintuitive - as with tied notes one can just select it and use the sissor tool right away…

Thank you, I should have read more carefully. This is the solution.
Btw., deleting and re-entering the rests did not work in my case.
