Can you crossgrade to Cubase from a full version of Nuendo?

Hi, I work with an artist that uses Nuendo. His son is at collage and they use Cubase14 and he would like to crossgrade to Cubase14 from Nuendo, but there isn’t an option for that on the site. Obviously Nuendo was more expensive to buy as it does a lot more video related stuff, but he really doesn’t use that side of it. Is there a crossgrade option and what would it cost to downgrade???

Just to throw it out there, it’s not only because of video (which I don’t use either). You can get a full product comparison on their site, but my unsolicited opinion would be to just keep what you have  but that’s not what you asked, of course.

While they don’t explicitly have a “downgrade/upgrade” purchase option on the site, they very well may make an allowance if you emailed support - but I would expect a wait. Also know that N14 is due in March, and for the same money (potentially) you could upgrade to N14 which also includes significantly more additional content than CB14P.

As far as I know there is no way, and this is intentional. I switched from Cubase to Nuendo a long time ago and would never want to go back. And I don’t do anything with film either; we use it to digitize and restore historical recordings.

The mere fact that Nuendo can play hundreds of audio events directly as individual files with a naming scheme is our daily work. In Cubase you have to laboriously set locators and then play them out individually.

You may not be able to, but there are alternative ways to cross-grade.

The N14 is expected to hit the market around March 18.

Meanwhile, N12/13 still holds strong market value, particularly in post-production, offering tools that even C14 cannot match. In fact, even N11 provides features that would require spending six times as much on third-party plugins.

I suspect many would be willing to exchange their C14 for it.

As a college student, it appears that his cb14 price on the sb site is either 199.00 or 359.00, depending on pro or artist versions.

Might be an option to explore.
