It would be a huge timesaver to be able to select a portion of audio with the beam tool and have a key command decrease the clip volume envelope by a user defined increment (eg 3dB or 6db).
Use cases are -
vocal editing to decrease breaths in between lines.
Drum editing to reduce bleed between hits by a dB amount.
It would be a huge timesaver for my own workflow. Any thoughts?
I’m not sure if there is a way, but if there is, it will be in the PLE.
Anyways, have you considered getting a second scroll wheel (in a keyboard or other device) that you can map to increase/decrease event volume? That way you can get to ±6dB in the flick of a finger and you get much finer control. Plus it works with the gain line too.
There’s a command called “increment event volume” that you can assign to a key. Might be fixed to just the 1 dB though. In that case I suppose you could do a PLE repeating it. Also, it is for events and I’ve taken the habit of just separating things for this purpose, so maybe Henrique’s suggestions are better.
I still prefer the scroll option, mapped to that exact parameter Mattias pointed out. It’s more flexible, you don’t need multiple shortcuts for different amounts and you can use it for both event volume and clip gain line (just select with range tool and turn the scroll to adjust).
You can use reWASD to remap any key in any device (it recognizes different keyboards, mouses, etc. and lets you create key combos and custom maps for each one independently). IME It works 100% of the time every time. AND it’s cheap. Highly recommend!
@henrique_staino That’s the reason why I deleted the macro @delta described after the introduction of the new features. It’s way faster now. Nevertheless, the old macro served me well back then.
