Cannot create an audio file

I have tried and tried but can’t seem to be able to create an audio file of an arrangement in the latest version of Dorico. I have followed the instructions specifically and I do not get any file. I had a piano part and no matter what I did (restarting the computer etc) all the export would do was the piano part. None of the other parts. I followed the instructions and did everything like it said and it would only do the piano. I made a new file without the piano and now nothing comes out on the mp3 file. Really frustrating. I have done this in the past with great success. I don’t know why it won’t now. I even cleared the piano mp3 out of the computer cache.
Any suggestions?

Can you post your file? Just the first few measures may do, so we can see your settings.
Creating and posting a Diagnostic Report from the Help menu may also help us see what is happening.

I get the exported audio file - don’t forget it will put it in a ‘Flows’ subfolder. But any format is just silent. No idea why. Others will know!

Works here with Noteperformer. Too large to attach.

Here, too. I load the project and it plays back normally. Then I export to audio and it works.

To make it small enough for an upload here, I had to delete bars, but that is the only modification I did.

Edit: @fiddleflyer , do you really invoke File > Export > Audio? Please post a screenshot of the Export window that you get.

When I got it the playback template was ‘Auto’ and file export had no sound. Changing it to ‘Note Performer’ works just fine.

Yes. I am going to File/Export Audio/mp3. It actually creates a file but with no sound on playback. I am stumped because I have done this multiple times with other songs with no problems whatsoever.
I know it must be something simple.
I am using a MacBook Pro with the latest iOS.

And normal playback does work, or not?
If it does, and if you have the mixer window open during audio export, can you see the metering jumping around?

Hello
Yes, normal playback works. The only thing I have trouble with is creating an audio file.

But do you get an ouput file or none at all?

Yes. Dorico makes an audio file but no sound.
I’ll try again when I get home in a little while.

@fiddleflyer , could you please create a diagnostic report (Help > Create Diagnostic Report) and post here the corresponding zip file?

And if you do get an (apparently empty) mp3 file, try to rename that file to something else, doesn’t matter what, just a different name, and then load that renamed file into your media player, does that make noise?

In addition to what @Ulf said, does the file seem to be a “correct” size or very small? Can you open it in Audacity or another app that will show the “wave” pattern.

And most of all, are you using Media Player while Dorico is open? (Media Player cannot “share” audio while another app is using the resources.

You may already know all of this and have checked already but I tend to lean toward the “never assume anything” method of problem solving. (Kudos for rebooting/restarting!)

Ok, I made another file just now and it will play back when imported into GarageBand.
That’s really strange.

It plays in GarageBand

How did you try to play it before? I’ve read posts before where people have had trouble with Apple Music (which I still think of as iTunes), but preview ought to work.

Ah, right, then it’s that same old caching issue. You exported the file once and it was empty or all zero and then you play it in iTunes or however it is called now, and iTunes puts it into its internal cache. Then you export to the same file again, but iTunes thinks: oh , I know that one already and plays from the old cache.

No it doesn’t,

Here you go.
Sorry it took so long.
