Cannot create volume database (Mediabay)

I cannot create a volume database no matter what I do. It just gives me the popup unable to create volume database.

As far as I know, permissions are fine , its windows 11, all my samples are on a different drive, it just stalls cubase for ages then fails.

Any help ?

Hi,

Please, double-check this. You can attach a screenshot to confirm.

Well I had missed one but it shouldnt have caused the fail. Admin has all permissions, and user had all permissions apart from “modify” so im trying again, if it fails this time, its not working. I ran Cubase as an administrator yesterday and tried and that has all permissions, and it failed, so I am not hopeful.

Again it’s failed.

I can’t give any answers. I’m just learning it myself.

Is this the first time you have created Media Bay Volume databases on these drives/samples?
If it’s not the first time, have you ever deleted the Steinberg file in the drives/samples, then try?

The Steinberg manual says very little. If it’s like for example Sononym, one of many sample managers, then I think it’s straight forward.

I too sometimes have had it say unable to create… Not sure why.

I have never clicked it to create a volume database no, unless it does it on it’s own.

I only learned about the option recently because mediabay is just so unusably slow even on an SSD.

Same here, and for the same reasons. On occasion i have experienced the same issue you have.

It can take hours to create one.

It would be nice to get some answers.

Same issue here. On Mac Mini M2.

Once it even managed to do it, but after restarting Cubasse it was gone again (No database icon).
