Yup it’s always worked properly. It’s actually a system I built 10 months ago.
Yup I did all of that this time. Check my latest replies for all of the info. There is a lot to read since I’ve documented everything I have done so far.
A few things…..be ABSOLUTELY SURE that UAC is completely disabled on the system. One of the first things I do after a clean install. COMPLETELY disengaged…..should state “not recommended”….correct. Don’t want it….don’t EVER want the stupid thing to ask what I want to do when IT thinks something unsafe is around. OFF OFF OFF ![]()
Another wonderful aspect of uac being completely disabled is you’ll never again be prompted to run ANYTHING as an administrator….ever ![]()
A lens grab of your error message refers to cause being whatever you’ve got on the system that utilizes 3rd party thing called Bitrock installer…..whatever that is…..which UAC ( if active) will block.
Every time I do a clean win11 install, one note on my checklist is to disable uac right away. It’s a stupid pita feature imo. Turn it off….maybe that’s the culprit.
A little more detective work shows bitrock install a core of every daw ……my hunch is disabling uac will instantly clear away the issue
Absolutely, that’s the first thing (UAC) i do in a newborn system.
Did you recall the default settings in your BIOS / UEFI before run the new install?
Oh absolutely, I made sure everything was set to default. The only thing I always do is disable the onboard audio so it doesn’t conflict with anything else.
That’s never given me problems before. I tried it, turning off UAC, and it still won’t install. I’m becoming 100% convinced this a new and very recent update to windows that’s causing this problem.
So the other night windows just wouldn’t install at all, error messages, or after I got done entering the windows key it would just reboot and not continue installation. So data is getting seriously corrupted somewhere. The only thing I can point to at this point through deductive reasoning and process of elimination is just a bad mainboard. It must be the controllers.
CPU, memory, and drives all passed testing. So the only thing left at this point is just the mainboard has gone bad. I ordered a new one, just got here today. it’s a Asus TUF gaming Z790 plus WiFi. I need the 5 PCIe slots since I have 4 Universal Audio DSP cards and an RME MADI 128 card. Tomorrow I’ll install everything and see how it all goes. At this point I can’t imagine it to be anything else except the mainboard.
Yeow….and you just built the computer less than a year ago?
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a mobo failing on any of the 30+ pcs I’ve purchased since 1987.
I occasionally (over the years) toy with the idea of jamming a tower together myself as a diy….always seems easy enough to do and likely fun…..but MY luck would likely be that six things fail immediately and I’d be tearing my hair out trying to track things down. Think I’ll just keep buying off the shelf….![]()
….but man, good luck….certainly must be frustrating!
Yeah extremely frustrating. I’ve never had a mainboard fail on me either, this is a first. However as Murphy’s law says if it can happen it will. It will inevitably happen.
I’m very picky about the parts in my computer. The off the shelf companies often cut corners to save on money. By buying all of my parts separately I know exactly what I’m getting, and I can spec out the whole thing to my needs and wants. These days it’s hard to find a mainboard with 5 PCI slots which I absolutely need. Eventually I’ll probably have to get rid of a couple of the UA DSP cards because mainboard manufacturers are starting to move away from a lot PCIe slots and everything is going towards Thunderbolt and USB.
OK, this may be well off kilter, but I have the exactly the same problem for a couple of days. But just now I got it to work.
I was looking at the event logs and spotted something about missing etc whatever.
Essentially for my system at least, I had to run the system (the laptop) at it’s fastest (i.e.) extreme gaming mode. The installer is a connected app and timing matters.
I could not believe it but it worked first time, I now have the system fully installed, how to use it though may take longer.
