Just bought Dorico 5.1 and the VSL. I open Dorico and select Vienna instruments pro in the VST window, and the blue VSL window opens.
Now somewhere in here is supposed to be a Setup Wizard in the VSL assistant window and I cannot find either and cannot locate a tutorial that addresses this. I’m new at it and a bit lost. Can someone direct me to this?

Make sure it’s not hiding behind some other window (particularly the main Dorico project window).
Sometimes, VST windows don’t come to the front.
The Dorico Wizard is part of Vienna Assistant, not part of Vienna Instruments Pro. Completely different program, and the Dorico Wizard isn’t accessed through Dorico at all, but by running the Vienna Assistant program on your computer.
Even after you get that going, note that the Dorico Wizard does not support the Vienna Instruments Pro and Vienna Instruments series, which are in the process of being discontinued.

Just adding on to what Michael said above. You open the Vienna Assistant outside of Dorico, select the Dorico Wizard in the bottom left, select the libraries you’d like to use in Dorico (VI Pro instruments will not be included here), then hit Save Template in the bottom right:
Inside Dorico, you will now see the Playback Template you just saved appear in Play / Playback Template. (Might need to restart Dorico if open) If you apply it you’ll be using those VSL sounds in your project.
Just to repeat, this does not work for instruments using the blue VI Pro window, so if you only have VI Pro instruments you’ll have to create your own expression maps. Symphonic Riot also has some VI Pro expression maps for Dorico for sale.
Thanks for the reply. I just purchased the VSL a month ago, so I should be ok with whatever VSL I have. I’ll talk to tech support regarding that issue. Your reply was very helpful – I loaded and opened the Vienna Assisteant and found the Dorico Wizard. Little by little I’m getting this.
thanks again,
patrick
