Cannot move the circle in Dim 7 chords

I don’t remember having this issue in Dorico 5. I cannot move the circle for a diminished chord. I posted in the Finale refugees in Facebook and no one has responded, so I will try here. I selected superscript, but it still shows subscript. In the Project Default Chord Symbol Appearances, it shows the proper spacing. I cannot move it up in the Kernel Pairing and when I move it to the right a little to give spacing, it bunches to the left. All that I have found in videos and searches take me to these menus, but nothing sticks. I hope someone can help. I do not know what I a missing. Thanks in advance.

Does this problem affect all projects, or just the current one you’re working on? If you open Library > Chord Symbols and look at the list on the left-hand side, do you see any overrides for dim7 chords? If so, try selecting them and clicking the little “revert” arrow in the action bar to reset that chord back to its factory default.

Hi, It is the same with any chart that I open that I am currently working on. I opened an older file and it used the the spelling instead of the circle. ie F#dim7. Should I maybe reinstall the program? I am at a loss, I have watched quite a few videos on chords to try and understand it. Is there a basic flow? ie 1.Library>Music Fonts. 2.Library>Font Styles. 3.Library>Chord Symbols etc. I like the Petalum font for chords and would like to continue to use it, but I can’t get it to work properly for some reason. Thank you for responding. I am at a loss.

Can you post a dorico file where this happens?

Here you go. Thank you for your help.

I removed the all dim chords edit and made a new one and somehow on my system it works. So far I can see.

If you remove the chord symbol override to all roots you can achieve the same with the kerning and set different settings for each root because with the A dim you want something different.
So far I know is kerning not working if you have an override to all roots that is why I removed it.

The right order to change the looks of chord symbols I always go first to engraving options, then to edit chord symbol kerning pairs and then if needed to the project default chord symbol appearances. That is how I do it.

What I don’t understand the problem you have is made because you altered the circle symbol to another one. Why it does not work as should be I don’t know.

Sorry really off topic but here I edited the eight notes in an quarter with stacato dot. I really believe that is the proper notation. But I’m happy to disagree.

Thank you so much. I am going to have to study your reply, but that is exactly what I have been trying to do. Thanks for your progression. I have been trying different fonts to see which makes the nicest score. It is subjective, but I do like this font for chords. Thank you again. As far as the staccato quarter, that sounds like a interesting conversation.
