I am having a problem with just 1 track where I am unable to replace the audio b/c I get an infinitely spinning ball. Out of 9 audio tracks in my montage, it is the only track I seem to be having the problem with.
I’ve even tried removing the audio file from the location where I pulled it into WaveLab thinking that it would be gone when I re-opened WaveLab but the audio file is still on the track.
I’ve also tried adding a new track beneath the one having the issue, but everytime I attempt to import it onto the new track, I get the hanging issue.
What is the recommended way to recover without having to re-create my whole montage just to update the 1 audio file?
Thanks
UPDATE
This is odd but after hours of trying to resolve this issue I decided to change the format of my file from .AIF to .WAV and then was able to import the file into
Montage w/o the hanging issue.
Oddly enough though, every other audio file in the Montage is an .AIF file and I didn’t initially have any issue with this one particular file. The only thing I can think of that changed was the initial file I imported had a 44 kHz sample rate and I changed it to 48 kHz
I don’t know that there is any explanation for this or if it has been known to happen before but I’d certainly be interested in any feedback if possible.
I don’t know why you have this problem, maybe something special is this AIFF file.
In general, I recommend not to use AIFF files which is an outdated file format. Better use .wav all the time
Thanks for the recommendation! So the issue again occurred, this time when performing either a replace of the existing audio file or deleting the original audio file and attempting to place an updated version of the same file on the audio track in the previous audio place.
So the issue doesn’t appear to be specific to either .AIFF or .WAV files.
I am running with a brand new installation of WaveLab that I have had for about several weeks now.
I was able to find a workaround for the issue that I’ll share. I navigated to the Montage audio folder on my Mac, located the file I was having the issue with and deleted it.
I then re-started WaveLab which correctly showed the audio file absent from the track. Then and only then was I able to re-import the updated file onto that track without the hang issue.
Really bizarre but I tend to think that it isn’t an issue specific to my system.
Do you replace the file from the clip popup menu, or from the File Tool window? These are two different operations, although the end result is the same if you have a single clip using the file.
I’d initially tried right-clicking the audio file on the track and selecting the “Replace Audio File” option. Then after having no luck that way, I simply deleted the audio file from the track and then performed a drag/drop from the “FILEBROWSER” tab.
