Cannot select track to record on in Cubase 10.5

Hi.
I’m new here and new to cubase.
I cannot select the track that I want to record on in cubase. I can record but it is going to a track that I have not created.
There is probably a simple step that I am missing but no you tube searches or steinberg user tutorials are showing it!
I’d be grateful for any pointers as to what I am missing.

Hi and welcome,

To choose in which track do you want to record, enable the Record Enable (red dot) button on the track.

Why do you think the data is recorded to different track, you didn’t create, please?
