Cannot upgrade to Groove Agent 6 -- Download Assistant not working

I tried upgrading GA 5 to GA 6 but no luck. The product installs but when I launch it it says no license found. GA 5 was licensed originally on USB elicenser but then converted to new model some time ago. GA 6 wants me to use Download Assistant to find my license but I am unable to use Download Assistant – it always gives me an error message saying no internet found.

This all started after moving to a new computer. Most of my Steinberg stuff migrated fine and I deactivated the old machine. But Download Assistant refuses to work and then it cause problems like this. When I recently upgrade to Cubase 15, tech support had to email me links to a version that would install on its own. I’ve emailed them about this, but so far no response.

If you’re going to make us go through all of this copy protection stuff, then make it seamless. Or at least be more proactive in fixing problems; I get the sense that there are a lot of people with niggling problems ever since Steinberg went away from the elicenser USB stick.

Any advice?

I should add to my original post that I’m running on Windows 11 on Intel Core 9.

Did you install the latest release of the Download Assistant? There was an update some weeks ago because of new certificates.

The Download Assistant is not activating your license, you need to start the Activation Manager for this.

I apologize for the issues, @zootsuiter. I guess that this is still about redeeming the Groove Agent 6 update Download Access Code?

If the Steinberg Download Assistant does not work correctly, please make sure that the latest version is installed, as JuergenP mentioned: Steinberg Download Assistant | Steinberg

If it still does not work, you can redeem the Groove Agent 6 code in MySteinberg as well.

Then, download Groove Agent 6 from our download pages.

For further troubleshooting, our US support team would be the right contact, and I hope that they will reply soon.
