Can't activate an upgrade with different mails

Hi all.
I got an account for Cubase v. 9.5 from my friend with his mail.
I purchased an upgrade to v12 with my account.
Now, I can’t activate it as it’s was downloaded or activated on my account while my friend’s account is still on 9.5.
I spoke with the customer service and they transfered the code to my friend’s account but I still can’t activate it.
This is the error I get when trying to activate:
"“At least one of the eLicenser used during this process was disabled and cannot be used for any license transactions. Please contact your software vendor to solve this issue.”

Thanks for the assistance!

USB-eLicenser dongles are disabled if they’re reported as lost/stolen via Steinberg Zero Downtime, or if one of the licenses was acquired through fraudulent means. If your friend purchased his license from someone who’s not an authorized dealer, that could have been it.

Ask your friend to run the latest eLicenser Control Center, and click the Maintenance button to the top right. If you still get this this message, then the dongle has indeed been disabled.
