How about adding enough column space in the Key Commands window to actually allow people to see the entire key command? Hover text doesn’t usually work and attempting to highlight the command and scroll through it just to see the whole thing often triggers a warning prompt. Seriously, what’s the big deal? This is not something where a workaround should be necessary.

What Cubase version and OS are you on?
I am on Cubase 15.0.30 and modifier keys are abbreviated which leaves plenty of space to see all keys at all time. Something rings a bell that this was different in previous versions.
Must be a Mac thing. On Windows we don’t have the amount of long modifier names and thus the column width seems to be able to cater for all characters.

15.0.30. Mac. This isn’t the only place in Cubase where this happens. There are a number of them.
Strange. Steinberg denominates Mac modifier keys with abbreviations as well in the manual:
If it’s a Mac only thing and it’s consistent over all recent Cubase versions then this should definetly be turned into a feature request!
The OP is referring to the key commands window.
True, you can expand the MIDI Remote Assistent window as well but this does not affect the Function Browser to the right, I can confirm. However, the OP was talking about key commands and the way modifiers are depicted on Mac which seems to be the culprit here.
That one drives me the most nuts. 
In the very tool for building the remote you can’t even see the full name of the element you’re trying to use. (???)

Surely, for software that can turn audio into MIDI, and can transpose audio and still keep the timing, surely resizable columns shouldn’t be too hard?

It’s a bit weird you get the whole new features every corner but is still stuck with a menu system from the mid-90s.
Key commands in Full word writen? Havent seen that before. Isn’t it possible to get them showing up in abbreviated form?
