I’ll start with the basic Halion quesion: Where can I download a manual? I found the online manual, but the downloaded file is easier for me to use.
Then onto my current problem: I pulled in an XML file from Finale and Dorico appears to have assigned sounds. Though all three staves are supposed to be handbells one was assigned “tinkle bell” and the other two assigned “piano.”
I’d like the handbell sound (if there is one). If that’s not available the piano will do.
I’ve gone into Track Inspector and clicked on “Edit Instrument”. That brings up an Halion panel. I highlight Tinkle Bell and click on Edit. On the right side I click on the Halion logo and it brings up a list of instruments. I don’t see “Piano” in that list nor do I see “Tinkle Bell.” How do I find a piano sound? Where did the default piano sound (labeled YAMAHA S90ES" come from?
A final question. In playback the piano sound decays rather quickly, much more quickly than when I click and hold a key in the Halion panel. How do I lengthen the sound in playback?
Thanks for the link to the Halion Manual. I paged through the it and did not see a list of instruments it provides. Is there a way to get that? I’m still puzzled where it got the piano sound and tinkle bell sound currently assigned to my piece through XML import.
These “instruments” you linked to appear to be synthesizer controllers. I’m looking for sounds like bassoon, viola, trombone, piano, and handbells. Where do I find a list of those?
When one feels overwhelmed with how thoroughly Dorico is different from Finale and how much there is to learn about Dorico, one can easily miss such things as a search widget. Thank you.
