I saw that C14 was discounted, so I decided to buy it. I have C13,bought 3/30/24, so I qualified for the upgrade. I put in all the information and credit card and got’ regret that your order annot be accepted. .. contact us for assistance. So I call Steinberg and am 1st caller in line, but have to wait ~30 minutes and then the person keeps asking if I’m there, while I say yes and hangs up. I call again on cell phone and now am 3rd in line and when I finally am connected, I am told they don’t deal with sales anymore, I need to connect with Fastspring. So I follow up on that, fill out the form and everything and then eventually get a followup. " We appreciate your recent attempt to place an order with us. However, I regret to inform you that we are unable to accept your order at this time. Please try again with an alternate payment method. Let us know if that attempt is unsuccessful. We understand this situation may be inconvenient, and we sincerely apologize for any frustration it may cause." I do so with a different credit card and get the same result. In neither case was the card declined. the order just wasn’t accepted. So this is what happens when you turn your business over to automatons or if, people, you can’t tell the difference because there is no explanation and whatever you say is ineffectual. I wrote the 1st time that since there is no reason given, it seems like a phony offer and I would contact the state AG with a complaint.
well that sucks for you. Cubase 14 is a great upgrade from v13 IMHO. I had to pick my 3rd option for paying for Steinberg products since they changed it a few years ago. It is what it is, and the offer was very much real. I guess you just didn’t find the correct payment they accepted.
Wait, not all is lost…
FastSpring sometimes blacklists an eMail adress for no apparent reasons. Lately, this was the case for a user from Australia and another from Europe.
Solution: Just use another eMail account. You can use everything else as is. You will receive a Download Access Code which is not in any way associated with your account. The DAC will produce an Activation Code - this one should be registered with your account.
Good luck and keep us in the loop, please!
…what happened when you called the toll-free number on the back of your credit card itself to ask why they wouldn’t let fastspring run it?
The cards were not declined. MC gold and Visa Platinum. They didn’t bother to try to run. They just decided not to give me the upgrade, would not provide reason and ignored my warnings. So now I’ve made the complaint and perhaps Steinberg will realize what an unreliable intermediary they have, sowing distrust among long time supporters . Best to deal with people, not automatons.
Hi @robirdman1 ,
have you tried this yet??
It would be nice to know for future users if this might be the reason or not. At least give it a try before going into rant mode, please
I spent 2 hours already trying to do a simple upgrade. I don’t feel like jumping through more hoops, like creating a new email address, to possibly bypass their incompetence. I would rather alert those who may have them take seriously their responsibilities and consequences of ignoring them.
It would have cost you two minutes to try another eMail account…
Fair enough, that’s up to you.
Just a fair warning: It will probably take weeks if not months to get a reply. In the meantime, please hesitate to share your frustration…
Be it as it may - good luck!
Fastspring itself processes transactions for zillions of merchants with zero issues…a pretty solid indication to me that the problem is at your end.
As it says above, others have been denied “FOR NO APPARENT REASON”. They don’t give a reason and the suggestion seems to be to trick them by pretending not to be myself. I have no urgency now for C14. I greatly anticipated C13, hoping it would improve my productivity, and actually It just increased the number of situations with unsolved problems, resulting in projects I’ve been able to completely finish to my satisfaction.
If you don’t want help, suit yourself.
FastSpring openly admits that their system is not flawless and there’s most probably an easy fix that only requires another email account - you would still remain yourself with the same name, billing adress etc.
Whatever. You are happy with C13 and that’s that. I am glad for you.
Maybe you could buy from an external site like this and upgrade via that path?
