Can't get 'Select Comparison Channel' to work in the EQ section

Cubase 14.0.10 on Mac M1 and I’ve just discovered the (not new) feature to compare two tracks on the EQ meter in the Cubase channel strip. I’m following the instructions - but I see nothing. The EQ settings are enabled on the channel. But instead of seeing the EQ bands and the waveform representation while the track is playing as I would expect I see this:

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

So I’m still stuck on this. I am following the instructions accurately as per the Help steps here: Steinberg

But I can’t see any graphic representation of either wave form in comparison mode. If I do this on a master channel rather than a track channel, I can see one of the wave forms (but not both).

If someone can confirm they see the functionality working that would be appreciated. I guess I’ll raise a ticket with Steinberg support as I really would like this functionality to be usable.

I have no idea what’s going on there and I can’t reproduce it either. Your entries in the Strip panel look strange to me because there are two Tools tiles and the EQ one is yellow. On my Windows system, it’s blue, is labeled “EQ Position” and has no bypass button while the Gate tile gets yellow if activated. That one seems to be missing in your screenshot.
Does the Channel Strip tab beside the Equalizer one show the same entries as the Strip panel?

Thank you, @Martin90 ! You’ve helped me get to the bottom of it.

I had created a new Project using the Cubase provided Stereo Mastering template. It in turn seems to use specific Channel Strips (I think they are ones that include both ECO and master in their titles) which use this EQ rather than EQ Position label and underlying component.

Only channel strips that inject the EQ section with the EQ Position label will function properly here. I am not sure what the difference is, or how to create (or recognise before loading) a Channel strip with EQ Position so as to have the desired functionality.

Probably one to alert Steinberg about for the Manual at least, but easy to fix now - change to a different Channel strip template.
