Can't hear recorded audio (Artist 12)

Hello and a good day to all.

I have a problem with Cubase. I can’t hear what i’ve recorded.

The Setup is

  • UR22C
  • Cubase 12 Artist
  • Windows 11
  • ASIO4ALL is installed

I can’t get my head around why. I have an old project that i made a while ago with a trial Cubase Pro Version and can hear everything.

Now i just don’t, i can hear my instrument, i have in fact a recording with a visible wave form. There’s even a slight echo which means it still goes through the program if i just listen.

I was already confused this morning because i set up a “Stereo Recording” when it had to be another one because that just wouldn’t put a sound through cubase at all while UR-C heard my instrument just fine.

And now i finally recorded something and can’t play back the sound?

I have this free day and already wasted 2,5 hours for nothing. So i’m really really really annoyed, is the kindest way to describe my feelings.

Maybe someone has the simplest solution here that i don’t get, please?

if you use asio4all you can try with another driver such as flexasio.

Might be a good idea. But i still don’t understand what i did differently the first time because i can hear my older project without issue.

Okay, kind of a progress: I can hear the recorded sample in the editing screen, using that dedicated play button.

In the project as a whole it is still like muted even though it isn’t. I…really don’t understand why this is so complicated.

EDIT: That might be it, guess i had the monitoring button all wrong, because it’s highlighted when you can’t hear a thing and vice versa.

It’s highlighted when you want to hear the input signal (like while recording). You “unhighlight” it to listen to the playback.

On a side note … why are you using ASIO4ALL when your interface has it’s own dedicated ASIO driver?
