We are trying to install Dorico in a computer lab. But after installing Steinberg Download Assistant, it will not authorize after logging in on our browser (safari, chrome, Firefox, or edge). Most browsers will just not open anything, safari returns the error “Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid.”
We tried installing it manually on one computer using the separate software downloads. Not only does it work, but the Steinberg Activation Manager successfully authenticates through the browser. But this is a lot of individual downloads and authentications for an entire lab of computers—especially with the sound libraries.
Steinberg support said our only option was to entirely disable any security settings on the network, which obviously IT will not let us do. Also, it does not seem like it should be necessary.
Does anyone have any advice on a more targeted approach that we should try before buckling down and doing all the spectate installer downloads? I have read all the threads I could find on this forum addressing this issue, and some ended with it eventually work, most ended in people giving up and using the manual installer. Thanks!
There is a known problem with some older versions of Steinberg Download Assistant whereby they cannot talk to our servers any more due to some server certificate issues. I would start by trying to download and install the most recent version of SDA and seeing if that works.
The computers are all running Sonoma—all the same I will have IT install this and see if it fixes the issue. If there are any other suggestions in the meantime, particularly things that would require admin access that we can do in one trip from IT, that would be greatly appreciated.
Don’t know but how about copying all the installers to a memory card or portable SSD and install it from that one., going from one computer to the next?
