Can't press play or rec. Time doesn't move forward or back

As described above.

I was playing synth on my track and then suddenly I can’t even press play. The project is activated and I can access all tjhe plaguns but the song just wont play. Whenever I press play nothing happens. The icon play is green but time is just still. As if the project has frozsen. In 2 decades of cubase I’ve never experienced this before.

All other songs work fine. It’s just this particular project. Please help

Kindly make sure that External Sync is not activated (Transport menu).

I see now that the system seem overloaded and just kind of “shuts down”. I’m on a very powerful PC, win 11 Cubase pro 14. The ASIO guard gets MAX load and then it just shuts down so pressing play or stop no longer works.

I just updated to the latest windows update 25h2 and the latest Cubase 14 update.
After the update it seems my pc gets overloaded by plugins when it before the update handled it fine. This seems to be related to the latest windows update or the cubase update, not sure which

I’ve now reverted back to Win 24h2 but the problem seem to persist so it wasn’t the windows update.
