Can't record music with mouse and keyboard

I have an UR816C audio interface now properly hooked up to my PC whereas I now can get sound out of my Yamaha speakers when I play a virtual midi instrument such as Halion using my mouse and keyboard. However, I still can’t record music. I have the record enable button on for the Halion instrument. I can play music while the transport record button is on but once I hit the stop button I have no music recorded.

Do I need a midi piano keyboard that is attached to the UR816C directly? What am I missing?

Yes you can’t play in with the mouse. You can draw notes in.

You can use the on-screen keyboard in a pinch. Alt+K is the default shortcut. qwertyu will then play pithes cdefgab. If you then click the dot in the lower right corner, you can use zxcvbnm for the lower octave too.

Good point. I forgot about that. Probably because I never attempted to use it because I wouldn’t find it intuitive. Or easy to do. However it’s not me who is doing this so great spot :+1:
