Can't save a groove quantize preset

Top is Cubase 14 below is 15. Can’t save a groove quantize preset in 15 ..Works fine in 14. Windows 11.

I can add grooves from both audio and midi but the little save icon will not highlight. Hence I can’t save anything.

I’ll also add I can save my grooves in Cubase 14 but they won’t copy across.

I can reproduce that (in C15 LE). The groove will be written to the edit buffer, but the “Save” button stays disabled. Not so in C14.

This seems to be a bug that stems from the rewrite of the Quantize Panel in C15.

Workaround: In the Quantize Panel, change the “Safe Range” or “Rough Quantize” value a bit and then immediately back. This will enable the safe button.

Nevertheless, it is a bug. You could open a support ticket with Steinberg to make them aware of this directly, maybe link to this topic.

It is expected though that the quantize presets are not carried over between versions, the presets gets saved to the UserPreferences.xml in their respective application folders.

I don’t have this issue in C15 Pro.
Maybe the exact steps and their order matters?

I did the following:

audio drum groove from media bay, do the hitpoints → create → Groove, this gets written to a quantize preset as expected, with a “*” in from of the name to indicate it isn’t saved, but the save button is inactive. Now, this actually survives a restart, but the moment you take another audio event and extract the groove, it gets overwritten with the new one.

Select something in either of these two boxes (even one tick) and the save option becomes highlighted.
