Can't seem to select notes by pitch?

Hello, I can’t see what I’m doing wrong. Here are my steps:

  1. I highlight a measure of notes, so that all are selected (including my target G#5 notes)
  2. I chose Edit:Filter:Notes by Pitch, which opens the dialog.
  3. I add “G sharp in octave 5” using the selections in the bottom portion.
  4. I highlight “G sharp in Octave 5” and I press “Select” in the lower RH part of the dialog.
  5. It returns to the score, but nothing is selected.

Any help would be appreciated!

Stephen

You missed a step. You need to press ADD to add that pitch to the filter before using Select.

Thank you for that! But I finally figured out the actual problem – which was that the G# I wanted to filter for (above middle C) is actually G#4, NOT G#5?

Which is confusing, because if I highlight the note, Dorico identifies the pitch (at the very bottom of the screen) as G#5.

That seems strange to me?

But thank you!
