Cant update because they say cubase 15 is running in the background but its not

im having problems trying too install or update any software that uses vsts.

a error box appears saying cubase 15 is running in the background please close but i havent started cubase and when i open taskmanager cubase isnt there.

steinberg download assistatnt gives me a box saying close cubase 15 too update but wont let me click close cubase 15 the box is greyed out.

ive tried running software or updates after a restart or after my pc has been turned off but same problem.

can anyone help?

Is this about a Cubase update? If Cubase is going to be reinstalled anyway, why not just uninstall it beforehand? Isn’t that working?
