1612 usually means you try to install an update and it can’t find the original installer to update files it thinks are corrupted or something.
If this is definitely the full installer (1.8Gb) then I guess it’s still looking to repair something in the existing install before updating and this is where it fails.
Uninstall/reinstall ought to work…you could set a restore point first if you’re worried about losing access to Cubase completely.
Uninstall and then install 15.0.10, otherwise you are stuck with (a corrupted install) from 06 untill C16. It will not delete your preferences or settings or any files!
When trying to uninstall C 15, I’m told: “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”
it looks like a missing temp file ? . “ Use source C:User/name/appdata/ local/ temp 3hrpmrwx.fmc/cubase/15/additional content/installer/”
I cannot see any app data folder in the user/name folder.
ps. unfortunately restore point had not been activated…..
Ok….when you run the 15.06 full installer does it fail immediately or do you get an options dialogue? If you can see the dialogue I think there may be a repair option?? Try that if you see it.
Otherwise search that error “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable” and you’ll see it’s quite common and there are many suggestions to fix it listed online
The appdata folder is a hidden folder.
BTW you said: “Downloaded the update…” how are you trying to update? Did you download the Cubase 15.0.10 installer or did you use the SDA?
Found the app data folder but no luck of course. Downloaded the installer from both SDA and website. I am told at least one container doesn’t exist and so unable to install the update or delete the old c15 unfortunately.
“scf” is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file”, I’m told.
as far as I can see Recuva Wizard recovers/deletes Pics, music, dokuments, video, compressed files and emails but not full programmes? Did run a scan and noticed a lot of “containers”, but which is what??? Was not able to find any thing obviously attached to Steinberg/Cubase.
Now I’m trying for the second time to run Win 11 update’s recovery.
Any idea if this is a windows issue or a Steinberg one?
There is an issue with one of the latest Microsoft patches, causing a reboot loop. Could be that your win cleaner did some cleaning that now ends in that loop
Maybe the mentioned fix can help you out of the loop.
To be honest, I stay away from these so called cleaners, because they can do some real harm to the system, leading to more trouble than before.
Don’t ever use programs (any) to clean the system!
Just use the microsoft tools included with the system.
after 2 or 3 attempts failed to start the system you will get to a blue recovery screen (WinRE) see if you can boot normally or (Troubleshoot) in safe mode with internet.
You will need to be online.
As soon as you will be able to access the system (included JuergenP suggestion) as sfc found and repaired files, you need to perform this:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
just copy and paste in your command prompt as admin press enter and let it work.
Used win11’s repair/recovery tool and the suggested command. Both claimed to have fixed broken files.
When trying to restart/boot no messages appear (been running for almost 10 minutes) and I don’t “reach” the blue screen before boot is aborted and starts again.
Just this : see attached video.
Usually the WinRE comes after several failed attempts to boot. Try to boot this way for 3 times: as soon as you see the win logo keep pressed the power button until the computer shuts, at the fourth attempt don’t shut it as it should come up the WinRE screen.
