There ought to be a way to use SHIFT + X text with erase background to cover up the phonetic spelling with the correct one. So far I have not been able to make that work. Perhaps the Development Team could consider that as a Feature Request.
Seems like Cantai might consider a user-extensible pronunciation dictionary (XML of some sort). Richard probably has something similar that’s internal to the program, so it would be a matter of presenting that to users comfortable with the idea. The user could add words with diacriticals or some other indicators. Ideally you could–on a piece by piece basis–select any of the schemes you’d put together (“Factory Default”, “American Standard”, “My Favorite”, or whatever you’ve taken the time to add.
I know this is likely not to be at the top of the developer list, but it might be a good feature in the longer term.
Cantai has done a remarkably good job so far in producing generally decent results with little user intervention but inevitably it will get to the stage where it would be useful to be able to tweak the vocal models in various ways (as SynthesizerV does), including editing the phonemes directly in the interface rather than the current less satisfactory method of having to do so in the score. Of course Cantai’s philosophy is to be as much plug and play as possible but I don’t see that as excluding gradually introducing more tweakability.
Anybody else have an issue with changing the playback template for Noteperformer + Cantai to a different playback template after rendering? When I try to do so, Dorico crashes before any change is made.
Maybe deleting any Noteperformer VST/MIDI connections in Play mode and saving your file before changing a playback template might keep it from crashing immediately. I suspect NP (stopped using that after only a very short time because it was too controlling for my taste) faults when changing playback templates loading something it does not understand. I always delete all my VST connections when I’m changing sound libraries from that VST to a different one.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll try changing the VSTs to something else before applying a new template. I never had this issue before Cantai, so I suspect it has something to do with their VST.
