Cantai repeatedly and randomly asks for my activation token. I might be able to work for a whole session without any problems, but on other occasions (like today) all started well until the voices went silent and the Cantai window asked for my token. I supplied it, but within two minutes it asked for it again. When I later came back to my computer the voice had reappeared without any action on my part, but there was no sound except when I clicked noteheads. At that point I experimentally changed one Cantai singer for another, and the sound reastablished itself. What is likely causing the above behaviour? I’m not getting any error messages (e.g. server-related) BTW.
That happened to me awhile back. It seemed to go away on its own, though.
Just an FYI. This can happen anytime Cantai cannot connect to its licensing server via the Internet. One must always be online to validate licensing. I’ve asked for this to be changed as have others since most modern software does not require internet or provides an option via internet or dongle. It can be annoying for those of us in areas with intermittent outages…
Edit: I have also suggested they consider something like iLok if they don’t want a pure on-the-user’s-machine license.
