Cantai is singing the wrong lyrics, from other flows in the project file. Anyone else has this problem?
Which flow are you playing when the wrong lyrics appear?
The first flow, Cantai, is singing lyrics from one of the other 6 flows. I have to side-mark though that I imported this score as MusicXML from an old Sibelius project. It imported as 1 flow, so I used Flow Breaks to separate the flows.
It seems that Cantai is skipping some bars with lyrics, so it sings the lyrics later in the same song.
OK. I found the cause. There was an apostrophe in the lyric, and that threw off everything that came after it: o’
it happens alot also in Musescore btw, where it only sings ooh instead of the lyrics
This, or something similar, can also happen when pre-roll is not set to zero.
This issue has been solved with the last version.
Interesting. If v2.2.2 is the last version, pre-roll still affected my scores. Maybe it’s only pre-roll on old scores???
I still had that problem with 2.2.2. It worked OK at 2.1, so that’s where I am now. Is there something newer than 2.2.2?
It still has issues with ’ as opposed to ’
The first skips much of the text, while the second works just fine. The problem with Dorico is that it chooses for you based on sound grammatical principles; it won’t let you choose without resorting to unicode (I’m assuming… I haven’t checked yet.)
UPDATE: Ha! even this page won’t let me choose… it keeps “correcting” the first one to a backwards apostrophe.
Do you have the smart (smarten) quotes preference turned on by chance? ![]()
Quite possibly. Is that even an option for this site? Dorico–yes–because it’s the correct way (unless you need straight for some reason).
I thought I had seen the option but it must have been a different site, app, or something! I would hope you could type a backtick (`) mark into your lyrics and Cantai would accept it.
it seems that apostrophes in the middle of the word have been supposedly fixed but those before or at the end of one have not. I had a 'till which threw the line out until removed.
Yep… that’s it.
Not trying to be a smart@$$ but till is a complete word by itself meaning at some point in time while 'til is the contraction for until…
. My masters level English major stepmother who is in her 80s corrects me on this periodically…
Indeed – the apostrophe was actually a misprint by myself. Checking the original text, it was not there. I know that 'til is the abbreviation.
And it has other meanings such as “the money in the till” or “to till the soil”
Pre-roll is broken again on Mac (@MarcLarcher) with v 2.2.3.
I’ve just tried on a file with one second of pre-roll and… it still works. Seems more complicated that just that.
On my Mac, as soon as I eliminated the pre-roll on an existing file and the lyrics were re-rendered, it was fine in that regard.
