Carillon?

When I tap the keyboard below they all sound, but when I press play I only get flute. If I were to assign the carillon to the fourth channel the other would disappear.

sorry “others” would disappear.

Click on Track inspector button, is Kontakt showing for the Carillon instrument?

No, I took it out. It overwrites the others.

I’m going to dump this one and start over. I think I’ve just screwed it up somehow.

Ok  otherwise you can attach it here and someone can check

I saved it, but this is the new one. Everything works fine but I haven’t assigned the carillon yet. I’ll do that next.

I assigned carillon to the 4th channel, and now they all play carrilon.

I’m uploading this Dorico f in case anyone wants to help me figure this out.

When I remove the carillon and reassign the other sounds everything plays again. I think carillon is going to have to be a solo instrument.

Does this work, sorry I cannot test it (although there is a Carillon in town, but I doubt Dorico will connect to it, perhaps in v6! )

You’ve assigned the Kontakt VST to all the instruments, not just the Keyboard.

In the VST and MIDI tab, create another VST, and add Steinberg’s HALion. Then add the instruments in there.

Alternatively, apply the HALion Playback Template (which will lose your Kontakt VST), and you’ll then have to add the Kontakt VST and set it to your Keyboard again.

Thank you for helping Ben

Ah! Got it. So the three HALion channels are working now, but the fourth, which should be carillon, is still playing a piano sound. We’re almost there.

And I applied the HALion playback template to all, then assigned Kontakt to the second channel, but it still plays a piano sound.

I worked it out! I changed the assignment in the Track Inspector and now they all sound in their proper instruments. I’d better save this template because I’ll never be able to reproduce this.

The Track Inspector is where you set up each Track; the VST and MIDI tab is where you just add the VSTs for the whole document.

Ah ha! Thank you all for the help!

(Adding this for anyone coming here in the future:)

@donaldskoog1 in the VST and Midi tab, you had only one VST, so when you changed it, all the others changed to it also because they were all set to this VST.

By clicking the + button

you add another VST. So if it is now working, HALion would be for your three instruments, with the Keyboard assigned to Kontakt or whatever VST you are using for your Carillon.

Glad you have it all working, have fun!

If anyone wants a Carillon instrument for ARIA Player, I’ve made one here:

Carillon.zip (2.4 KB)

You can download the samples from here:
