CB13 missing audio files

Hello
I’ve read the other posts regarding missing audio files, but nothing helps. Yesterday audio files showed in the project and the pool. Everything was fine. Today those audio files are empty. Meaning they are still listed in the pool and the project window, but there’s no data in them.
Any ideas to fix this nightmare?
Thanks!

Hi,

What happens, if you double-click the Audio click in the Pool? Can you see and hear the sound?

Nothing happens when I double click . I’ll include a couple of screen shots and reply again tonight.
Thanks Martin

Hi Martin,
In the pictures you can see the same audio file is empty.
Any ideas? I can’t figure out how this happens.

I’m just throwing some ideas as they come, because I’ve never seen something similar :

  • Any Cubase crash occured while working on your project ? Any “Missing file” message of some kind when opening it ? I ask this, because the pool window display isn’t normal and it’s as if the THE MAIN SYNTH LINE.wav file was 0 kb. Even if there was a dead silence in it, you should have, at least, one or two 0 dB line(s) displayed, as it is more than 1 minute long. Have you checked the file size in Windows explorer ?

  • Additionaly, it seems that a Direct Offline Processing has been applied on both related clips with new clips created, but this should also be visible in the pool in the Status column : another anomaly. How do these clips appear in the sample editior (screenshots, if possible) ?

  • Another point : do you have a sound whan playing back the project at the moment when the synth lmoves.wav clip/file is involved ? Because apparently, it is displayed with the same issue.

Hope that @Martin.Jirsak or someone else will be able to help more…

Hi,

Can you see them in the File Explorer? Please attach a screenshot from the File Explorer (Windows) with the given location.

Btw, why do you use multiple locations? Doing this, you risk accidentally deleting some of the file(s).

Thank -you and Martin for your replies.
Using windows explorer I found the files in the audio folder in the project!
What the heck? When opening the project , where to have the option to search for the missing files, I had to search for them individually to get them in the pool.
Thanks again

Reopened that project again today and the same thing happened. This must be some type of glitch?

Try to use the File > Back up Project command, using a new or empty folder to install what will contain the preferably renamed project file and all its dependencies (audio, freeze, peaks, etc.). This should collect ALL the files scattered in different places in just an unique one : the Audio subfolder of your new chosen location.

Great idea. I’ll back up the project in the manner you suggested.
Thanks!
I’ll let you know how it goes.

That worked !
Many Thanks
