CD playback question

Hi everyone,

If I import my 64 bit mixdowns into Wavelab in order to author a CD, does Wavelab automatically convert my 64bit files to 16bit before burning the disc?

The reason I am asking is because I have done this and was surprised to find the resulting CD plays beautifully, when everything I have read says CD files must be 16bit.

Yes, and there is no choice since the CD only accepts 16-bit. Generally, users add a dithering plugin to reduce low-level distortion.
