In Elements 9.0 is it possible to change the directory where the .bak Auto Save files are saved, and if so, how? Now they automatically go into the current project directory, but I’d prefer to have them in a dedicated Auto Save directory. If I back up the project, that can be put into a separate directory, but I’d like the auto saved files to go int that as well if possible.

No, you can’t change it (even not in Cubase Pro). The BAK files are always stored next to the CPR files.
