Guess the question is in the subject. I can switch to straight in the middle of a swing feel, or the other way around, via a tempo change, but I can’t figure out how to do that at the same time I have a tempo change or tempo equation. It seems two tempo indications at the same time are not possible with whatever I’m doing. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
How do you do that? When I select the start of the measure where I have a tempo equation and enter “straight” into the tempo popover, it overwrites the equation. What am I missing?
Not sure. I selected the first note and entered shift-T, swing first. Then selected the same note and entered shift-T, q=120. So make sure the first tempo is not selected when you enter the second one. You can probably enter one on the next beat and move it with alt/opt + arrows. Also, I guess you selected one of the preset swing versions from the popover list?

Yes. And it doesn’t seem to matter whether I have the existing tempo selected or not. Anything I add replaces the existing tempo. And if I place it a half beat ahead and then nudge it over to the start of the measure it overwrites the existing tempo. So bizarre.
That’s odd. I’m able to do it the way @jesele said.
What version of Dorico do you have?

Meant to say, I’m running 6.0.22, Mac with Tahoe. Can’t update because of a chord-font issue.
I’m afraid I don’t have any older versions, so I can’t check.

Are you sure you are selecting one of the swing presets from the list when you write swing? Just writing swing will not work.

Just writing swing looks like this in the lower panel:
The swing from the list is hidden and doesn’t show anything in the lower panel.
So you can write swing and use the metronome mark shown like q=120 if you want swing to be shown in the score, but for playback you need the one from the list that is hidden.
OK, this is odd. If I open a brand new project, it does work fine. If, however, I try it in my template-originated projects, or if I import the settings to the blank project using the library manager, it no longer works. Here’s an example of a template I use, though you probably don’t have the same fonts:

I can’t even get ANYTHING to say “swing” now. Any time I select from the dropdown list in the popup it just disappears when I hit enter.

With your file I get the same inabilility to add swing. When I create a file of my own, there is no problem.
Conclusion: Your file is somehow corrupted and the team would need to investigate.

I think I figured it out: I have signposts hidden, and the swing indication only appears as a signpost, not as an actual visible marking. Sorry for all the headache.
