Change of key after a DS. sign

I have a trumpet part from a full score that has a DS al Coda. At that point a change of key is needed to match the key to which it is returning.

So the last bar before the DS, has 3 1/2 beats in 4/4 and a quaver (7th) rest. I need a cautionary rest (in my case, a Bb) after the 7th note rest to remind the reader that when he goes back the the DC it is no longer in the key he has just left and also to stay in the key when it jumps to the Coda otherwise there will be wrong notes.

I hope that makes sense. I would attach a picture if I could.

I am using Dorico 6.2 Elements. Surely this should be possible even with Elements.

Take a look at the section on repeats in the release post for 6.2 – does that meet your needs? I believe this is available in Elements.

Thank you. It is available in Elements; I have tried that now but cannot get it to work.

I managed to get a cautionary F key change which is still the current key but I wanted a C which is the key at the point of return, and it was in front of the quaver rest not behind ie immediately at the DS.

Can you share your project file here?

I have managed to get the change of key before the rest but it really needs to be after it.

In Notation Options > Repeats, set the option to Track.

Select the DS and hit Alt/Opt+right arrow, so that it’s attached to the barline instead of the rest before it. Select the key signature that you added before the rest and delete it, and you’ll see that Dorico provides the cautionary key sig right before the barline.

Now you can go into Engrave mode, select the DS, and turn off the Start Offset property so that it positions itself correctly.

Thank you for your help and advice. I carried out the procedure you mentioned.

I did not find out how to turn off the Start Offset property despite searching for it.

Thanks so much for doing it for me .

The property only shows up in Engrave mode. Switch to that mode, select the DS, and open the bottom Properties panel. It’s in the Repeat Markers section.

Alternatively, you can select the DS (in Write or Engrave modes) and do Edit > Reset Position.
