Change Quarters to Eights in MIDI and Reposition?

Hi. In 4/4 I’ve entered about 16 bars of quarter notes. I’ve decided I’d like to change them to eighths resulting in 8 bars of eighth notes - essentially doubling the tempo without changing the tempo marking. I can reduce the quarters to eighths but besides dragging them is there another hopefully easier way? Hope this makes sense - thanks.

Yes, it’s super easy. In the Project Window change the Object Selection Tool (Arrow) to use the option Sizing Applies Time Stretch. Then drag the lower right corner of the MIDI Part to resize it.

Thanks. Works just fine! Is there any way to anchor the first note so that everything doesn’t slide to the left when I drag? All info appreciated.

Not sure I understand what you’re asking - perhaps a screenshot would help.

A3 has moved to the left. I can work with this but if there is a way to halve the note values with the first note in the original position that would be great.

OK, I see. That’s actually the desired behavior and makes sense if you consider that the blank space at the beginning is really a Quarter-Note Rest that is also being resized along with the Notes. To keep that from happening you’d need to have the start of the MIDI Part and the first Note be in the same place - so the Part has no Rest in it. You could Split the MIDI Part at the 2nd beat, resize your Notes and then Glue the 2 Parts back together. Not sure if that’s easier than just dragging the Notes to where you want them after the resizing.

@raino Thanks! Either way is much easier than note by note. Cheers.
