Changed behavior of clone stamp tool in SL 12

I just upgraded to SL 12 from 11.
It seems to me that the behavior of the clone stamp tool has changed:
Before, the stamp tool replaced the content under the cursor with the source. In the new version, instead of replacing, the source gets added to the content under the cursor instead.
Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed that changes that? Or is this a bug? This completely breaks my usual workflows using the clone stamp tool.

Thanks for reporting the issue !

I opened a ticket about this.
I also suggested adding an attenuation parameter to control how much of the underlying should be kept when stamping (so 0db would work as it is now in v12… and -inf would replace the original audio when stamped)

That’s a good idea, some one might have a valid case to use the clone stamp in an additive nature, but having a slider scale to ensure we have the original overwrite behaviour gives the best of both worlds.

…so Tech Support response was that they cannot ā€œreproduceā€ this issue.
I don’t think they understood it with pictures…I’m gonna send a screen video clearly showing the difference of the clone stamp on V11 and V12…
Did anyone else opened a ticket about this?

Just discovered this Clone stamp issue in v12 and can confirm the original post. Clone stamp no longer replaces content as it did in previous versions, rather it appears to add or subtract to the existing content. I’ve previously used the tool to replace unwanted instrument notes with ambience leading into the notes but this no longer works as the softer content is now just buried within the existing content.

As I said, this change in functionality would be detrimental to my workflow

as @Robin_Lobel has acknowledged the thread for reporting the issue, I trust SL12 will receive a fix in the first patch…otherwise the workaround will be quite time consuming

Sorry if I have missed anything, but it hasn’t been fixed in 12.0.10.

Unfortunately here as well - it’s not fixed for me.

@jannik1919 @dllmusic @DanielAyo @FilohsoFi @ctreitzell @Yoshiaki_Watanuki @unclearchibaldroan Sorry it was indeed not fully fixed in patch 1, if this tool is critical to you here’s a pre-build that contains a proper fix for it:
SpectraLayers 12.0.11.424 macOS
SpectraLayers 12.0.11.414 Windows
NB: The Windows installer is not signed, so Windows may complain about it at install or first launch, and if you have trouble downloading because the links have reached download capacities, you might need to login into a google account first.

Hi Robin. Thank you so much for sending this pre-build.
The Clone Stamp now works as intended!!
Please also check out that the display preferences (crosshair / grid etc) ..are not applied until quit / relaunching the app.
Best Regards
Pablo

it has always been this way IME…at least all last year since my starting using SL11

Thanks so much for taking the time to share the pre-build. It’s working perfectly now.

Those preferences are for new projects. If you want to change that immediately in your current project, go to the View menu.

Got it. I missed reading ā€˜Default..’ there… Thank you.

@Robin_Lobel
Thanks, Robin! The Clone Stamp worked perfectly!

Same for me. The Beta (or whatever you call it) 12.0.11 is working for this at least. Wonder why there haven’t been more reports.

Is this issue present in SpectraLayers Pro 12.0.10 Build 423 (arm64)?
