Changing Chord Symbols Over a Held Note

I’m working on a lead sheet for a song and I want to show the chord changing over a held final note of a phrase…the phrase ends on a ‘d’ harmonized with a dm7 chord that then changes to a G7 at the beginning of the next measure. The ‘d’ is held into the first beat of that measure.

I think this is a pretty common situation.

I had no problem adding the dmin7, but when I click on the note at the beginning of the next bar to add the G7 it doesn’t seem to work.

I’m guessing it has to do with the tie?

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

Al

Hi @afreeburger, try to activate the caret (Note Input), then move the cursor at the beginning of the desired bar, and then use the popover (Shift+Q) to write the chord symbol at that exact rhythmic place.

Also, when you’ve typed in a chord symbol, you can press Tab to go to the next bar, or space to move to the next beat, ready to type the next chord.
